"Here in Bulgaria they use the Serdilka, but we are just I think seeing it dying out to the new wealth, as mothers are buying baby strollers for the first time in the villages. It is a square of local woven cloth with long plaits of wool at each corner, the baby sits 'side saddle' in it, with the ties crossed over the mother's chest to tie it on, old ones are used for carrying wood and sacks of potatoes."
